Emboss

Embossing presses your logo into the material from behind so it stands out in relief, raised above the surface with no ink at all. The tone-on-tone finish reads as understated and premium, especially on leather and PU executive gifts.

Ideal for leather, PU, fabric, paper and silicone products.

Emboss or deboss? Embossing raises your logo above the surface; debossing sinks it below. Both are ink-free and permanent, so the choice is purely about the look you want.

Colours
None. The finish is the material itself, raised in the shape of your logo.
Durability
Permanent. The impression is formed into the material and cannot wear off.
Cost
A once-off die setup, then economical across the run.
Artwork
Bold, simple marks emboss best; hairline detail gets lost in the relief.

How does embossing work?

  1. 1

Your logo is made into a matched pair of metal dies, one raised and one recessed.

  2. 2

The dies are mounted in a press and heated.

  3. 3

Your product is positioned between the dies and the press closes.

  4. 4

The material is forced into the recessed die, leaving your logo permanently raised on the surface.

Emboss questions, answered

What is the difference between embossing and debossing?

Embossing raises the logo above the surface; debossing presses it below. Both use heated dies and no ink, giving a permanent tone-on-tone mark.

Can an embossed logo have colour?

Embossing itself is ink-free. If you want the impression in metallic colour, hot foil stamping combines the pressed mark with a foil finish.

Which materials can be embossed?

Leather and PU take the crispest impressions, and fabric, paper and silicone also emboss well. Hard surfaces like metal and glass are better suited to engraving.
